From GenAI to Surveillance Tech: Decision-making in a Rapidly Changing Terrain

As digital technologies rapidly evolve and proliferate, hundreds of devices, programs, and platforms are brought into our classrooms with glowing promises of more engaged students, faster learning, and improved workflows. Often, however, any immediate benefits come with collateral, unintended, and disproportionate negative effects. In this keynote, we'll discuss some of the critical junctures in making decisions about using emerging technologies in our teaching, and try out some decision-making ourselves by taking a walkthrough of generative AI platforms for planning instruction with health curriculum.
